  1. Great post! I found your blog through your mom’s linkup! While we emphasize gratitude in our home, I had never thought about how expectations can diminish gratitude in quite that way.

    1. Thank you, Leslie. I’m finding that yes, while gratitude is the ultimate goal, it is impossible to achieve if your expectations are too high. Food for thought for myself as well as others! 😉

  2. Great perspective, Lauren! You are wise beyond your years! 😉 BTW, I love your bio…you had me at “she thinks that good grammar is sexy, and mascots are terrifying.” I’m a grammar girl myself but married a college-sports fanatic of a husband. (Cue learning curve.) Thanks for sharing at Coffee & Conversation!

    1. Thank you, Elizabeth! I’ve found wisdom is a lot easier to talk about than to practice, hehe :).

I do indeed love grammar…I consider myself lucky to have married a man as disinterested in watching sports as I am! 😉 Thanks for reading!!

  3. Ugh I am so guilty of this! Sometimes I expect my husband to be able to read my mind. Something that seems so obvious to me isn’t to him. It’s not because he’s stupid or uncaring or anything. It’s because we’re different people with different wants and experiences. Sometimes I forget that.

    1. So true, Charlene! It’s easy to say you know someone loves you when everything’s calm, but as soon as things get tense we so often stop giving them the benefit of the doubt 🙁
