1. Status – buying things we don’t need with money we don’t have to impress people don’t even like!

   Thanks Lauren. I definitely don’t think owning nice things is a problem – I’m saving up for a couple very nice things right now! – but not if it interferes with our larger goals and dreams and not if we place our worth and joy in owning the latest and greatest.

2. Lauren, I couldn’t agree more. As a family counselor, I see the results of all that spending and keeping up. But that is just the symptom. It’s a heart issue, often discontent and looking to find happiness in things besides God and His blessings.
