Mother’s day is in just a few days! Have you gotten a gift for your mother yet?
If the answer is no, here are some inexpensive but meaningful ideas that will make your momma’s heart swell with love:
1. Write her a letter
This might be one of the most meaningful gifts your mom receives all year, and it will cost you nothing but your time. Take some time to handwrite a long, sincere letter to your mother. Tell her the things you appreciate about her. Tell her why you’re grateful for her. Thank her for giving you life and raising you. And make sure you have a box of tissues handy.
2. Pay for a massage
A 30 minute massage generally runs around $25-30. If you want to splurge you can buy an hour, but even 30 minutes can work wonders to help relieve stress and anxiety. If you live out of town and can’t get a gift card, most establishments will let you call in and place the credit directly on her account. Easy peasy!
3. Make a relaxing gift basket
Stop by the dollar or drug store and pick up some bath salts, bubbles, a loofah sponge, lotion, essential oils, etc. Maybe even grab a bottle of wine – that’s great at helping people relax. Arrange artfully in a nice basket and voila! NOTE: This works best if you know your mom’s preferences regarding scents (and doesn’t work at all if she’s allergic to lots of things!).
4. Give her a piece of yourself
Almost universally, moms get sentimental when they are given pictures of their children. Find a nice picture of you and your siblings and get it framed in a pretty frame. If you want to go all the way, consider making a photo book from services like Shutterfly.
5. Spend an afternoon together
Some people simply prefer being with you over being given a gift from you. If your mother is one of those people, consider surprising her with an afternoon together. Go to the park, the mall, or any other place she likes to frequent, and just be present together. It’ll be a Mother’s Day she treasures forever.
